"The Maypole" was painted during September 1982. It was done in oil using the sable flats and rounds and also the palette knife. This was an early attempt to work with models. I had several difficult drawing sessions as the models were forever jumping out of pose and dancing to some favorite song that had come on the radio. In spite of the hard problems, the painting finally came together in late September. My friends asked to remain anonymous.
