Erika's Tribute to Seth Justman of The J. Geils Band
Seth Justman was the keyboardist, producer, and a principal songwriter of the
J. Geils Band. And my personal favorite. They broke up (and broke my heart) in 1983 when I entered my freshman year of college. This webpage promotes the band members past present and future as talented musicians in America who should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (ahem, and they aren't because WHY?).

Seth from his Post-Wolf "Even/Odd" album in 1984. A technically complex and rich sounding album, "Even/Odd" was ahead of its time. Penned the term "Californicatin'" many years before The Red Hot Chili Peppers did. This album needs to be re-released on CD! Currently it can only be found in CD form as a supreme rarity as a Japanese import. CD-R copies are circulating on the net for sale.

Where are they now?
History: In the fall of 1983 Peter Wolf left the band (either voluntarily or not) to pursue a solo career now numbering several CD's. The latest project is being recorded in NYC. The remaining members put out a Wolf-less effort that went on to #80 in the Billboard charts (Concealed Weapons, the single, hit #63). Seth Justman produced music for other bands and works on solo projects including an as yet unreleased CD (I've heard parts of it and it's fabulous), and the music for the documentary Country Boys seen in 2005 on PBS (now on DVD). Jay in the 90s formed a band Blues Time with Magic Dick, that disbanded a few years ago and now he puts out jazz CD's with The New Guitar Summit and Gerry Beaudoin. They can been seen in the central Massachusetts area playing out from time to time. Not to be missed. Magic Dick patented a harmonica invention. He is currently touring on the east coast with Mark Hummel (www.markhummel.com). He also worked on music for Country Boys. Jay produced the first CD by Stone Crazy featuring former bandmate Danny Klein. Danny now co-owns a restaurant, Z Square, in Harvard Square (he's quite the chef by the way) and plays out regularly with Stone Crazy bandmates (blues) and his latest lineup Danny Klein and Friends (Geils tunes and more). Stephen Bladd is happily retired in Massachusetts with his family. Five of the original members did a reunion tour in 1999. They also played a benefit concert in 2005 in Cambridge and all together again after 23 years for a short set at Danny Klein's surprise birthday bash in May 2006.

* Disclaimer: Although I make some effort towards accuracy, it's not always, so
take what you read with a grain of salt. This is an unofficial Geils site and is not
endorsed by any band members. It's a labor of love. Finally, I reserve the right to be opinionated as hell.
Funky Judge has taken over as the clearinghouse for information recently. He is the go to
for the latest on all the goings on. It's a lot of time to do a website like this and I will update it as I can because it is important to fans new and old alike.*
Thanks for everyone who visited and to those who emailed me and encouraged me.
JGB fans are the most rabid fans ever created. Many of their songs are now true
rock classics and still getting fairly frequent radio play.
I first saw them in 1980 at the Cape Cod Colisseum and had
an ecstatic religious experience. This site started originally because there was
not much on Geils at the time on the web pre 1999 and what there at the time was not very flattering. I don't advertise this site and it's popularity grew because people wanted info and they had no other avenue. But I had NO idea it was so well visited because I don't track statistics. Hence the addition of a hit counter 5/5/04.
