Dear Erika,
Did you ever go to your "senior Masquerade dance" in high
school dressed as Peter wolf?? I did!!--everyone thought I was a "french
painter", and no-one really knew what I was !!(LoL). I toyed with this homepage
for a while, but never really became adept at creating html and pages and all
that jazz. Peter's sister corrected me on their last name--Blakefield SHE
told me. She is Nancy Hodgins today. I'm currently 40 yrs young and was forcibly
made into a crazed geils fan by a performance by the band back in 1974 in
Asbury Park NJ. As a 14 yr old, that performance has mesmerized me forever!
More to come later...........much more!! --Albert "Doc" Schweitzer
Great bunch of guys the the JGB are, a class act benefiting the firefighters families. I saw the news of the firefighters on the tube, hits close to home, I've been a cop for 22 years in suburban Detroit, flags are still at half staff around the local fire hall. I will send you a review of the New Years Eve "Millenium Houseparty", should be a great show by the greatest live rock n roll band, last summers shows were the best. They are advertising the show as "if the world ends, would you rather be at home or would you rather be at the worlds last concert." hmmmmm. Love and peace from Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetroit, ooooooooooooooooooooooh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! Frank n Paula ( Woof and my Raputa tha beauta, only recently stopped wearing green mascara) PS - Is Bladd sitting New Years Eve out? Thats him in the photo on your site isn't it?

I am a fellow fan of the J. Geils Band. They definitely rule! I wish
I was in the financial position to go see the reunion tour but I'm
not...so you'll have to see it twice for me ;)
I am dying to see some pics of the guys the way they look now but I
have had no luck whatsoever. If you come across any PLEASE let me know
immediately. I love your site and the one and only Seth deserves it. The man has
major talent. Take care! Tammy
Your page is great!!!! This has to be one of the best J. Geils Band/SethJustman fan pages I have ever read. I've been a fan of The J. Geils Band since "Freeze-Frame" was released. Glad to know there is more than one J. Geils fan! Please feel free to e-mail me any time. Matt
July 1999
I just wanted to let you know that I liked your site. I am one
of the people here in Detroit that obviously hasn't forgotten about the
J. Geils Band. They were the first rock concert I saw when I was
fourteen. The Showtime tour which was recorded here in 1982. I also
saw the band on July 3, 1999 at Pine Knob in Detroit and recently found
out that they have added another date, July 12. I am planning on
attending that show as well. I was always a huge Seth Justman fan and
thought that the You're Getting Even...album was definitely ahead of its
time, as it was one of their best and most creative efforts.
Unfortunately, a couple of years ago I moved and got rid of all of my
"vinyl" albums as I no longer own a turntable. I recently began getting
all of the Geils collection on CD and found that they don't even list
the Youre Getting Even... in any compilation listing. I'm pretty bummed
that I no longer own it. Just to let you know the band was as good if
not better than the last time I saw them 17 years ago. --Connie
Did a search on seth justman and i found your page. it is really terrific!!!! my high school friends and i got hooked into geils in the early 80's. we all had our favorite members. seth was my favorite. (it is nice to find another person with the same great taste!!!) i love the pictures on the website--he is one of the most handsome men i have seen. (naughty thoughts, naughty thoughts do reign supreme). but i love your site, and i put it in my bookmarks list. --karen
This is very strange but my dad mentioned the J. Geils Band at dinner today (July 4th) and I told my family about this strange memory I had of meeting a girl when I was
younger and she told me her dad was in the J. Geils Band. I am not sure if I actually remember this or I dreamt it but it prompted me to find out. I think her name was
Wendy and they lived in Hartland Michigan, my hometown, for only a short time. I think I was between the ages of 8 and 12 when I met her. So, that would make it
1982-1986. My question is- Did any of the band members have a daughter named Wendy, that would now be about 22-26 years old? THANKS - I know this sounds bizarre
but my whole family is doubting this ever happened and think I made it up.
Please respond! Julie M.
P.S. We really enjoyed your website!

Nice job on your page. I'm curious - do you know anyone that knows Seth? He
did not look like a happy camper at all during the show (but then I never had
good enough seats when the band was together before to know if that's just the
way he is). I think I counted two smiles one at Magic Dick when he was
leaning out over the crowd and I think another at the end. Is he hating the
reunion? If so, too bad - DK, JG and MD looked like they were loving it! And
boy he sure played well - the man jams. Couple of questions-
What Boston restaurant did Danny Klein cook in?
What has Seth done for the past 10 years or so (besides Rock Bird)?
Do you know anything beyond the official story on why no Steven Bladd?
Where do Seth & Danny live (general area, not actual address)?
Isn't it great to have random strangers call and pump you for information?!!
That's what you get when you establish yourself as an authority! Thanks. -Brian
I think of you every time I see all the promo stuff on J. Giles on the tube. They are really making a big deal of that concert!! I'm sure I'd rather be where you are and doing what you're doing, though. Something tells me the hype is building up to something that may prove to be a bust. --Luce
I caught the boys on the Today show Fri. and taped it. Once they got warmed up they did ok. A whole lotta 'grandma' types in the audience. Is that the kind of crowd they draw now? Close ups only of Wolf, so I couldn't detect any wrinkles. --vlcollins
Great website. You should contact the band and do theirs. One typo - Seth was in Keyboard Magazine in 85 not 95. Other not well known fact: PW read the audio version of the book on Bill Graham. Keep up the good work and enjoy your summer. BBF4
Found your website about the J.Geils Band and thought you would like to know that they performed on the Today Show this morning. I taped it and if you would like a copy let me know. The performed Centerfold and Lookin' for a Love. They still can kick out the jams! J is a little porky and Seth has a blond flat top. The replacement drummer, three horns and two backup singers worked well. I hope to see them in Cincinnati or Chicago since there are no Indiana dates. regards, --Kevin Williams
I will be in NYC for the Today show on Fri. Hope to e-mail you pics of rock's newest blond. --BBf4
Greetings from Monkey Island! Was checking out your site and was amazed to see that someone knew that J's name is not Jerome. Wonder how that myth got started. J's house in Carlisle was not a horse farm. Just a regular four bedroom house with a three car garage and a barn. This allowed J and his wife to indulge their favorite hobbies. J's hobby was Ferrari engine work and his wife rode horses. They moved out of Carlisle shortly after the band broke up and moved to Groton where J. opened an auto shop specializing in exotic cars. Have you heard the rumour that the band will be playing Saturday at the Paradise in Boston with Alex Chilton and the Boxtops? --Reid
Was just surfing the net, looking for some news about J. Geils Band reunion tour, found your pages and saw that you wrote: >Detroit's Pine Knob sold out in 4 hours... . . and . . . >Detroit is already sold out for Pine Knob. I know on your site you said you'd be gone virtually all summer, but if you get the chance to update it somehow/sometime, you may want to include these tidbits. J. Geils has sold out TWO dates in the Detroit area at Pine Knob -- July 2 and July 3, and a third date, July 14, has been added. Also, the first show sold out a lot quicker than four hours. Due mostly to corporate and season ticket holders at Pine Knob, the first 8,000 or so seats under the shed went in less than five minutes (I know this for certain, because I was in line and I was miffed); I heard on the radio and from friends (those being two somewhat reliable sources, but not direct knowledge) that the entire venue, including shed and lawn seats, sold out in well under an hour. At Pine Knob there is, like most sheds, the actual seats under said shed and the lawn "seating," (where I got tickets) which comprises about another 7,000 seats, for a total of about 15,000 seats. Also, if you do get a chance or feel the need to add these tidbits to your site, you may want to tell any potential "On the Road," following the band-types this info', too. In my experiences of getting tickets at Pine Knob, often a couple of days prior to a sold-out show, they will sell more lawn tickets. This has nothing to do with more room being available due to any particular band's stage set-up; the management at Pine Knob simply decides to oversell the lawn and to really pack 'em in tight, I guess. Friends and family of mine have gotten tickets for at least two sold-out shows (that I can remember) that I was going to in this manner. Of course, I can NOT guarantee such a thing will happen for J. Geils this time around, but it has happened in the past. If that does not happen, there's always scalpers, and they are pretty brazen about it here -- many advertisements for tickets to popular events in the local papers. I have not seen any ads for J. Geils tickets, but I have NOT been looking for any ticket at all, though I'm darned certain those ads are there. Anyway, it's not real surprising J. Geils is doing well in Motown; Detroit loves J. Geils Band. Respectfully, Brian B

They just announced a third and final Detroit Show for the J. Geils
Band, tickets go on sale tomorrow, June 4th.
I noted that you will be out of town for the early part of the tour, I
will try and send you the set list from the first two shows if the crowd
is not too crazy.
How 'bout the Letterman Show? The band sounded pretty good. The
drummer's name is Simm Kane and I do not know anything more about him.
That name is per Perterwolf.com Any word on why Bladd is not touring?
The injured back story make no sense, perhaps he or they are feuding
still? --Frank
I wonder why no one is bothering to update the J. Geils Band website? Pete must have fired his web-master, since he was the one who was going to be in charge of Wolf's lighting on his solo tour. --Riffraff
Not only am I going to see them at Pine Knob, I'm driving to Boston to see the first show there. And, as fate would have it, it looks like I'll be in Chicago the night they're tentatively scheduled to play there. I am a huge J. Geils fan -- saw them seven times when I was 17 and 18 years old -- and I still can't believe they're back. My favorite song has always been Jus' Can't Stop Me, and I'll never forget the first time I saw them and to my amazement, they opened with that song. Best,Rob
Great site! The reunion is a dream come true, I just hope they come to my little upper left-hand corner of the country, Seattle, Wa. I'm a keyboard & sax player who has long idolized JGB's high energy, no holds barred boogie. Do you know of any sites that have lyrics of J. Geil Band songs, especially the earlier blues covers of their career? Any help would be appreciated. Have fun down under, hopefully the boys will follow you there. Thank you, Badger
4/99
I would obviously be thrilled to get on the guest list. Either way I will definitely catch them and I am tempted to catch them at Great Woods in June. I can not imagine they would play there without playing a rehearsal gig somewhere. If you hear anything about it, I would love to know. If you have a mailing list by all means put me on it. Thanks, Adam

Glad to hear from yu again and that ya went (Mike) Hunting for Geils stuff. Anyway, keep me posted on the --------------.... Yu've done a f*ckin' great job on yur homepage. I know, you know you have. Cya. Johnnybey
The pics are g-r-e-a-t!!! Thanx! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the "blond" one!! --Vicki
I certainly do hope that the rumor you heard is true. What I wouldn't give to see those guys playing live again. Absolutely the best live band I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. I am STILL trying to complete their album catalog, I think I'm only missing two. I hope and pray that this isn't just a rumor, that it will come to pass. And they better come to California!! --KevinW
re: not an outright denial...No blood please!!!!! Can't anyone be honest or am I totally crazy to even think that is possible. Oh well, I guess we will find out in time. --Dee
There are no official plans as of yet. --PW
Anymore reunion news? I e-mailed Wolf and wished him a happy birthday. Casually mentioned a possible reunion. So far all I've gotten is an automated response. --Vicki
Forget you, are you nuts! Every times you think he's out of your life he comes back in. This is not a cowinkydink! The band is back together that is great. Maybe I will get to see them in concert. Get a back stage pass for me. Dee
I was wondering if you could tell me who took over lead vocals after Peter Wolf left J. Geils Band? Thanks! : ) --Secret9780. [enote: after PW left the band Seth took over lead vocals and Bladd sang a few songs. Magic Dick sang back up vocals on some tracks.]

My brother and I used to pretend to be different celebrities and make up our own stories
about them. We, also, used to play in bands together. Him on guitar,
me on vocals. We'd give "concerts", as a duet, and invite our friends.
In fact, I even sent Magic Dick a recording of one of the bands I used
to sing in (seems like about 100 years ago)
I've been thinking about Seth a lot lately. I know his birthday is next
week. Incidentally, I saw the new pictures you put out there. Really hot!!
(Impure thoughts alright)
One of these days I'll get ambitious and find the pic of me and Seth
together. It was taken on my 26th birthday in 1976 in Lansing, MI. (I
think I mentioned before that I am 3 months older than Seth and I can't
believe I'll be 50 next year)I still have the backstage pass. I believe it was
the only time I actually had enough nerve to say anything to him
besides "hi". --VickiC

erika, love j. geils band. only got to see them once in 82 at L'ville gardens. peter wolf sprayed champagne all over me cause we were in the front row. looking foward to the re release of sanctuary one of my favs. thanks for all the info. ==squigs
Hello from Toronto. I am a huge fan. The best thing is that when I was a teen, many moons ago, I probably would have loved that one day, my kids were fans too. Well, my son is 7 and a huge JGB fan too. At the age of 4 he was singing along to Even/Odd and at 5 his fave CD was Rhino's Anthology. He does my heart good. Do you have a picture of Seth with blond hair?? I'd LOVE to see that. What a handsome man!!! -- Eve L-R
No problem.. glad to help any fan of the J. Geils Band.. even if Seth is her favorite. : ) By the way, when is he going to do a solo album..? Also, have you heard any rumors of a possible reunion of the J. Geils Band? I find it very interesting that so many "old" bands are getting back together, even if for just a brief time for a reunion... In any interview that I've read in which Peter Wolf is questioned about his days with the Geils Band, he always seems to keep the option of a possible reunion open. Plus, Magic Dick and "Jay" Geils are still playing and doing the blues festival circuit these days.. Perhaps, if Peter's next album receives ANY commercial success, and if a few phone calls or two are made between Geils members...... Who knows?? P.S. Can you let me know when you update your page with any new info.? --Tim.
June 1998
JJJ was a name Peter made up for the band when they all shared the credit for a song. Just as Jerome was a name Peter made up for J. Geils. ThomasK
I recently found your web page.. I think it is great.. just a little more information on what Wolf has been up to.. since, I didn't see a complete listing of his work on your page: Lights Out (EMI America Records, 1984 - features Lights Out!, I Need You Tonight, Oo-ee-diddley-bop!, (all on the charts.. Lights Out peeked at about #9, I think).. also, a really cool tune in which Mick Jagger sings back up vocals - Pretty Lady! Come As You Are (EMI America Records, 1987 - features Come as You are, which was in the top twenty, if my memory serves me.. Can't Get Started, which had a "live" video in which Peter and band members perform at a bar of some kind, and an almost Van Morrisonisque song entitled "Magic Moon". Up To No Good (MCA Records, 1990 - features 99 Worlds, which is a great tune. Also, When Women Are Lonely.. Peter performed this song on David Letterman, and it was very good.... and of course, his latest "Long Line"... Not to mention, his works on: Aretha Franklin's "Who's Zoomin' Who?" 1985, Arista Records.. he sings a song with her entitled: Push... very funky for a mid-eighties tune! and.. you can get the rest from Peter's web page, I'm sure.. : ) By the way, your web site is cool!! --Tim.
Hi. I can't believe I found your website. Seth Justman is probably the biggest musical influence I have ever had and has done more to inspire me than almost any other musician. Do you have any idea what he is currently up to and whether or not he will be releasing anything? Also, do you know if "You're Gettin' Even While I'm Gettin' Odd" is available anywhere on CD? I am in the process of mastering an old cassette I have of the album as I can not locate it on CD anywhere. I'll be a frequent visitor to your site. Seth rules. --Michael
I stumbled upon your site by accident really while trying to find out something about my boys. I have been a very big fan ever since I was in the 6th Grade and I heard the song Centerfold (Yes I am a few years younger than you but no less of a fan.) Anyway the reason I e-mailed you was to see if you would snail mail me a letter and send me your address. I nice Geils collection and would be glad to make you a copy of any radio shows that I have. I have been working on a Discography for the Geils band that you might would like to put on your site. Do you have any bootlegs or anything? Maybe we could do some trading. The reason for the snail mail is that I don't have a computer yet but would still like to correspond with you about my favorite band. I think the stuff I could send you would be of help to all Geils fans. I will give you my address and phone # if you want I will call you back on my nickel. If you call please call between 12:00 noon and 4:00 pm weekdays or on Weekends. I work night shift 12-13-14 hrs a night sometimes but I would love to hear from you because you seem to have the same passion for the band that I do. Thanks Woofa Goofa, Donny S, Crossville, AL
I knew he was nearing fifty. So am I. In fact, I'm three months older than he is. (October 10, 1950) Anyway, I was going thru some old stuff and found a T-shirt I'd silkscreened with Seth's face on it. It's pretty cool. I love music too. I used to sing in a band, locally. We did a few bars and high school-type gigs. It was fun while it lasted. I even sent Magic Dick a recording of us. But, I got pregnant and had to get a real job. I've been working for Blue CrossBlue Shield of MI for nearly 20 years. I like my job, but it sure ain't show business. Thanks for the info. Got any updates? Wow, I can't picture Seth as a blond. Sure would love to see him. So what do you do when you're not being a Seth Justman "groupie" ? Hear from you soon, I hope.--Vicki
I've crossed paths with J., Danny, Dick and Seth in the Blues scene. I used to ask J. all kinds of JGB questions, he sat in with the band I was in for the six months prior to forming Bluestime. Tom K.

Hey, I knew J. Geils when he was in 8th grade, braces and all!--BobyOE
I too have many awesome memories of the geils band.. you really got a great web page.. its great to see that there are a few of us around.. its really too bad that they couldn't settle their differences and get back together one more time.. WHAT THE HELL REALLY HAPPENED!!! do you know the story? i've been following pete's carreer.. at least his show's and music still rock.. thanks for putting up this page! --dharvey
My name is Vicki. I found your website while searching for anything on J. Geils Band and/or Seth Justman. Seth was always my favorite, although I never got to know him very well. (Remember, from my story, I was too shy) I was just wondering what he's been up to lately.(since Debbie Harry) Hear about Geils and Magic Dick from time to time. And of course, we hear about Wolf. But, never anything about Seth, Danny, or Stephen Jo. Got any info you care to share? Sure would love to hear from you. --Vicki
April 1998
When "Monkey Island" came out, I kinda remember there was this mystery about where
exactly MI was located. At the time, the band wouldn't say. Do ya know? --John
Ms. Justman (OK, so we'll tell him later), Just got done checking out your new,
improved Seth page, read the Wolf interview (checked out some of Eric's stuff),
went back to the Seth page and.... all of a sudden, I'm an executive producer ....
Girl, you do fabulous on your own, but if I'm giving you support, well, you must
really be in deep sh*t.... what I mean, Mystery Geils Chick, is that I enjoy the
hard work and dedication you've put into the Seth page and, yes, he WILL come
around one of these days .... John
February 1998
You're not the only one at there! I don't have time now to go into alot of
things, but I definitely feel there should be a J. Geils homepage of some
sort. Like I said before, I go way, way back with them (first album) and saw
them a bunch of times. Actually saw them from the first row once at the Santa
Monic Civic in Southern California. A couple years ago, I saw J. Geils and
Magic Dick at BB King's Blues Club and have seen Peter Wolf twice, once before
Long Line was released, and once afterward. I've only been online for about
nine months, and it wasn't until the other day when I got on Worldwide net and
called up J. Geils that I saw your stuff. Much of the stuff I'd seen on the
band before was on Yahoo (but virtually nothing on S. Justman, Danny Klein or
Stephen Jo Bladd). Anyway, get it going girl. There's got to be some Geils
fans out there somewhere. Keep in touch. --John
I love J. Geils Band, have so for many years (day 1). Seen them many times.
Glad to see something on SJ. --Johnnybey
