November emails re Dylan McDermott

November 1998

Thought I would drop a line to let you know that US Magazine for December has a nice write up on both Lara Flynn Boyle and Dylan = not together, separate articles. The one about Dylan is quite insightful, tells something of his adolescence and has his high school prom picture. Also, he is listed in Playboy's 10 Best-dressed men , December, 1998. Did you see him in "Home for the Holidays" Thursday night or "Miracle on 34th Street" Friday night? Both of them great holiday pics, and he is so good in them. Happy Holidays, Ida

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the December issue of US magazine. There is an article on Dylan with a great pic. The issue is somewhat full of David E. Kelly connections. His wife Michelle Pfiffer is on the front and there are articles on Dylan, Laura Flynn Boyle, Calista Flockhart, and the woman who plays the secretary on Ally McBeal. Is there something strange going on here? I don't know and don't care as long as there is a pic of Dylan!!! --Laura B.

Dylan is a great actor in what ever role he plays. I like him in the Practice. he's a very intersting guy. Lindsey and Helen are both crazy about Bobbie who could blame them. From Barbara L

Just in case you hadn't heard, Dylan McDermott is on the cover of Canadian TV Guide this week. There's a good article and pictures, as well as a mention of Shiva Rose guest-starring on The Practice last month as a client who had been ousted from her job in a discrimination case. "She did a great job and looked beautiful," beams McDermott proudly. --JL

How you doing? My name is Julie and I'm from Australia. I was just surfing through your page and I have to say... it's great.. lotsa info... unfortunately, due to a geographical technicality, I missed the appearance in LA... do you know of anyone who went? Anyways, just thought I'd write and say hi, also, you said if anyone loooves Dylan, to write to you, and I'm starting to lurrrvvveee him, so, I thougt I'd better write. Take Care...==Julie

I have already harrassed the major Television studios, but I will try again. Do you think that if I contact ( is it the Fox Network who deals with 'The Practice'), that they could help? Do you have an e.mail address for them? I have no doubts that the series will eventually be aired here in the UK, but God only knows when!!! Sometimes the TV networks can be really on-the-ball, but at other times.....reverse gear is faster......if you get my meaning!!!!--Giuliana

Definitely Lindsay. Ally, come on, that is ridiculous- did make for an i nteresting show though. As for Helen, been there done that. She may have been good sex, butin the long run it's a no go. Lindsay and Dylan have a definite love connection that time will prove. I mean come on, the guy sucks her elbows. --Linda C.

I would like to know if Dylan McDermott attended the Antalya (Turkey) film festival during the week of Sept 28, 1998? Or does he have a look alike? Someone resembling him was on a NYC to Istanbul flight Sept 25th and I had a discussion with him and his female traveling companion (also another Hollywood lookalike) while clearing immigrations at the Istanbul airport. They were changing planes and going "somewhere down on the Mediterranean" where they were to be picked up. Even with a 5 o'clock shadow and grungy jeans and sweatshirt he was extremely attractive. I do not normally watch "The Practice" but did subsequently. Its hard to tell because of the amount of makeup applied for the show. Maybe others who follow the stars and pics have run across articles that mention this festival. I was in Antalya only briefly on the evening of the awards and could get no information on attendees. Thanks. -Sue L. [enote: your guess is as good as mine]

My post was praise for a wonderful show! I love the Practice it's more realistic then some of the other shows I've seen! And you can't compare it to Ally McBeal because they are, too, didfferent shows! Here is what I posted;
Great episode! I guessed right on the verdict, too! NOT GUILTY! You have to admit what Ellenor did to Helen was pretty low! I guess she panicked at the last minute. Bobby wasn't, too, thrilled about it either! Good old Jimmy! I call him Jimmy the peacemaker no longer a Grunt! He tends to hold them all together when they fall apart. I love his character, too! They all have flaws and don't always win their cases. That's what I love about the show in some ways very realistic and human. And all of the characters go through it! Kudos to David Kelly! He sure knows how to keep the audience riveted to their seats! Next week Tony Danza will be playing the lawyer sueing the firm! This is going to get interesting! And what about Bobby and Lindsey! I guess we'll just have to wait and see! Great show! Loved every minute of it! Am I right or am I right! ;) That post pretty much sums up how I feel about the Practice. It's one helluva show! --TLC

How charming that Dylan's brother-in-law would write to let you know Dylan's birth year was wrong. He seems very sweet and guileless. So many people have delusions of grandeur when they are related to someone famous. Shiva's family sounds very down to earth. I hope that he will stay in touch, and maybe keep us abreast of what is going on in Dylan's and Shiva's busy lives. Later, Ida

Not only that but they said I was on drugs! I guess the forum is for everyone including flamers! You might want to look into that. I was offended by this response to one of my posts. Are you on drugs? That was the pinnacle of crap! Who did it? How could they let him off with nothing but his dumb-ass face to testify? I'm convinced that the Practice is actually a front for alien mind manipulation - turning the thoughts of puddy-brained fart-suckers like you into jelly - to be used for fuel when - not if -they come and finally rid our planet of the human flotsam and jetsom that you, and The Practice, so ably represent. I don't want to get involved with this person and post back and forth negative thoughts. I plan on not responding to it, since it isn't worth it. But if I did I'd tell him to get real and that he watches, too, much of the X-files! As for the other posts I'll leave that for you to read. Very negative comments! Comments the Practice doesn't deserve! Just expressing my thoughts on the matter. Talk to you later!-TLC

Hi Erika! I'm surprised you missed it! Well anyway, I will give you what I gave Chris and Scott, both fans of the Practice, too! Here are some of the details from "One of Those Days." [CAUTION: spoiler] The plaintiff actually brought the head in a cooler as evidence! Naturally Ellenor and Eugene objected to it. So did the judge! LOL It was a very interesting moment. Some important things you need to know. Bobby, Helen, Jimmy, Eugene, Ellenor all met together and came up with plan B. Plan B is that they go after other people softly. Well they didn't! Eugene got the son of the parents daughter who was killed up on the stand and treated him as a hostile witness! The parents got so upset with him that the father lashed out with his crutches at Eugene's face! Eugene got knocked down and ended up getting some stitches in his head. He's okay don't worry! Then later on Ellenor did the unspeakable. She got Helen up on the stand and cross examined her using information that was off the record! She said she was backed up into a corner! Bobby was not happy at all! You can imagine I'm sure! ;) Lindsey wasn't either. Then things got out of hand. Ellenor asked in an angry tone, "What did you sleep with the guy?", referring to Pearson. She literally threw the book at Ellenor for that comment and it hit the wall! Lucy made a crack about how she loved women cat fights. Bobby told her enough! He told Ellenor to step back and Lindsey as well. He then explained the importance of the D.A.s to every case. To show it better I got the script part and wrote down what they said in that particular scene. Act it out! LOL have fun! From when Helen is talking to Ellenor.
Helen: You just cut my legs off! You screwed me in this office for the last time! Ellenor: I was backed into a... Helen: (interrupting) That's crap! Lindsey: She's right. Ellenor: What was I going to do say George, I could have saved you but... Lindsey: (interrupts) George isn't the only client in this firm. Ellenor: (raises voice) No Pearson is! Bobby: (starts raising voice) She's right, Ellenor. We need our credibility with every case not just this one. Ellenor: It's not something I planned to do. Bobby: (raises voice) But you did it! We have to rely on relationships with D.A.s a lot! Sometimes those off the cuff conversations make all the difference. You think any D.A down at that office will want to talk to us again? Ellenor: So I should let George go down so we can preserve our invites to the Christmas parties? Bobby: (raising voice) Yes! Our dialogue with that office is more important then any one case! Lindsey: I got to deal with them on sentencing next week. I'm sure they'll be in a great moods, too... Ellenor: (interrupts) Oh get over your professor Lindsey. What did you do? Sleep with the guy! Lindsey: (Throws the book literally at Ellenor and it hits the wall above her head. Ellenor moves up to Lindsey and Bobby holds her back.) Bobby: Ellenor! Lucy: I love it when girls fight. It's better then hockey. Bobby: (Looks at Lucy while holding back Ellenor) Quiet Lucy! Back up Ellenor! Back up! (still angry and looks at Lindsey) You, too! I don't care what the stakes are! If the D.A. has an off the record conversation with any of us it stays off the record! Otherwise it is like Lindsey says, we lose our credibility in every case! Ellenor: Well tell that to the drowning man that you're more concerned about the boat! Bobby: (still angry) I am not talking to a drowning man, Ellenor! I am talking to you! Jimmy: (Acts as peacemaker and steps in front of Bobby and Bobby looks at him as he speaks) Let's everybody settle down a little. There's a lot of stakes for a lot of people. Tearing each other new armpits isn't going to help anybody. Lindsey stares at Ellenor and looks away. Later Ellenor apologizes to Lindsey and Lindsey tells her she'll work on Helen's trust for Ellenor. To cut to the chase, the final verdict was, surprise! Not gulity! I guessed correctly! It could have gone either way! So you know next week Tony Danza will play the lawyer of the father, Steve Robinson, who is sueing the firm for treating his son as a hostile witness among other things. And you know the rest it's on your site under upcoming episodes. Keep up the good work! Great show! Very intense as usual! TLC that's my Practice nick. It actually is my initials! Tamara Lyn Cox It also stands for Tender Loving Care! I thought that was pretty neat. ;) I have many nick names all referring to different shows. ;) I like the three letter concept. It is something you can put on a briefcase, too! That's another reason why I chose it. ;) P.S. Give me a time you can chat and maybe we can set something up. Thanks! --Tam C

I recently bought a whole load of playbills, and coincidentally enough, one of them was for the play "Biloxi Blues", featuring Mark McDermott. I originally thought it was just a similarly named actor, but the picture is unmistakable. This is his bio: MARK McDERMOTT (Roy Selridge). This is Mark's first appearance on Broadway. He was last seen in The Seagull with Joanna Woodward. Ms. Woodward has also directed him in Golden Boy and La Ronde. He is a recent graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse. --JL

Hi Erika, So you got news from Dylans bro inlaw, what a trip! If my brother had a site with lady fans, I'm sure I would hoot, houl and tease him. So you said maybe he was going to send you something. Would this be something like a letter or pic that you could post at your site, or something more personal like a sweaty hankie or a box of chocolate or a practice coffee cup or whatever? Well you didn't ask for my input but..................if it's to post at the site and if anyone is asking, there is nothing like seeing a gorgeous man holding a baby. Now who sounds like a hopeless romantic? --Nita

No, he didn't win the VH1 award. Chris Rock did. However, DM presented the award for best designer of male fashion with Salma Hayek. This is what happened. Salma: So, Dylan, since you are nominated for personal style tonight, I thought you might give us an idea of fashion from the male perspective. Dylan: Well Salma, it's very simple. I rip my clothes off the doorknob, stuff my crotch with a big sock, and then I throw on my assless pants. Salma lifts his suit coat and takes a nice little peek at his ass, much to his suprise, and says: Not bad. You really had to see the whole show to get the assless pants joke. --The Wheelers

Hi Erika, my name is Jackie and I to am a fan of Dylan Mcdermott, I was reading your pages on Dylan I think it is a very good sight, some comments on Dylan I had the pleasure of meeting the charming actor a few months back while I was working, I was not to familiar with him as I did not get to watch his show, I saw a few people getting his autographs, as I started talking to him, I found him to be a super guy, who was as down to earth as they come, and super, super nice and hard to believe but even better looking in person, he took the time to sign an autograph for me and I even had about a ten minute conversation with him, let me tell you since that moment I would not dare miss an episode of the Practice, i really have to say you picked a great guy to dedicate a fan page to, he really deserves it. His wife is probably the luckiest lady around to have such a super guy. Have you ever met him?? Well once again I wanted to share my story with a fellow fan of Dylan and the show, once again you have a great site. --Jackie

Great job with the fan page - my sister and I love him! I was wondering, do you know where I could pick up a copy of Jersey Girl? It is our all time favorite movie and I want to get it for her for Christmas. Thank you,Stephanie [e note: try blockbusters video for JG]

How often do you update your site? I find myself coming to you more and more for good information on Dylan and what's going on in his life. I used to access the ABC Primetime Boards occasionally for feedback on the Practice, but find they are not very reliable. They had an interesting string on Shiva Rose after her appearance, and the response seemed very positive. Then the "boards" went down for awhile. I wasn't able to access them for a week or so. When I got back on, the whole conversation about Shiva had some-how disappeared. I checked back a full 90 days, and there was nothing. I checked the other primetime boards, and they didn't seem to have any time-gap in their postings. Conspiracy? Who knows. I know I probably won't be back. I know you have a life outside your webpages, and it must be very time-consuming keeping up with all this, but I believe you are the de facto Dylan McDermott "source". Thanks, again for all your hard work. Ida 11-15-98

I stumbled onto your page being a practice/dylan mcdermott fan and I have to say I love your page. Then I went to your homepage and saw the reiki link. I found out about reiki only about a year ago. My mom studies it, and I think its absolutely fascinating. Having done a lot of yoga I see that there are a lot of similarities between the two. Anyway, just thought I would share.-Madalsa

No problem! I would've loved to see him win, but oh well, I heard Chris Rock won. I wrote some P.O. Box address in LA which I got from some Celebrity Addresses site, hoping for an autographed picture. I'm gonna keep trying. I'm here at college, and The Practice, especially Dylan, keep me from going insane from the studying. Anyway, I head there's this thing going on called "inside the practice" in LA on Nov 16th, put on by the Emmys. The public is invited for only $15 a person--it's a symposium where the cast, crew and producers are all gonna be there. It sounds so cool, but alas I can't go cuz it's right in the middle of the week and I've got school. I was willing to give up school for it, but my parents said no way. :( Well, I may eventually get over it. Check it out:
>The Television Academy is hosting an >evening with the entire cast, David Kelley and producers which is open to the >public. The event is Nov. 16th at 8pm. Cost is $15. You can call (818) >754-2890 for details. For those not in the area, the event will be webcast >live at www.emmys.org/activities/ If you or anyone you know end up going, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me all about it. I'm totally heart broken that I can't go. <> Well, keep up the good work on your site, I really enjoy all the pics! It's nice to hear from you. -=-Vickie

Just a little Dylan info---The movie he is in called "Dancing About Architecture" is now called "Playing By Heart." The release date is 12/18/98. Also, you can buy stock in Dylan on the Hollywood Stock Exchange at www.hsx.com. He has been doing very well on the exchange lately, his value has risen so quickly he has been listed on the page of the best bonds by performance. --Laura B.

Hey Erika, I'm gay so I hope that's cool with you. You got a great Dylan site! Do you have or know ANYWHERE to get pictures of Dylan without his shirt on? His body is to die for! --Dan
